Concierge4Fashion picks its favorite artisan perfumes

From Dior to Cartier, to Yves Saint Laurent, every luxury house wants to make and sell them. Men, women, both want to own them, often spending a lot more on them than they would garments. Icons want them named after themselves. Perfumes are almost like fragrant legacies left behind by their famous creators, once they’re long gone. Of scent, sensuality and baccarat, here are our top picks from all over the world.

7. Shalimar Indian Nights by Guerlain
The balmy blue calm of an Indian night is perfectly portrayed in this fragrance much as its Waltersperger and Gripoix designed sublime bottle. Guerlain’s first ever, special edition of the giant Shalimar glass bottle, it poorly conceals the suggestion of its equally voluptuous oriental notes, even as the neck boasts jewels in deep blue glass and iridescent pearls mounted on fine 24 carats gold. With only 40 numbered pieces available worldwide, the whopping 1.5l bottle is priced at 9600 Euro ($12,000) approx.

6. Paris by Yves Saint Laurent
The city of blinding lights is well represented in Paris L’Edition Venini, Yves Saint Laurent Paris’ 30th Anniversary bottle. Made by Maison Venini using the Murrina technique, which combines amber with five other shades of pink in the glass, it is nothing short of a work of art. Two of these rare fragrance bottles packing in the iconic floral and woody notes that established the perfume, have been housed at the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann and at Printemps Haussmann in Paris. Only 10 units will be produced, each worth 6000 Euro ($7,500).

5. The Panthère Extrait by Cartier
If you want to picture to the words, voluptuous, feline, velvety, here’s what you should see- The Panthère Extrait by Cartier. In a stunning new rock crystal exterior, La Panthère’s most luxurious release to date is a concentrate of the original voluptuous chypre accord touched with gardenia, packaged in a solid gold vial. There’s nothing not to love about the glass bottle faceted like a jewel. Except maybe that it is limited to only one edition, with price on request.

4. J’adore Edition Prestige Baccarat by Dior
For a perfume with a name that hints at what you’re expected to do to it and a scent that ensures you do, J’adore L’Or’s Prestige Edition will make you fall in love. The result of a union between Dior’s design team and Baccarat, its bottle is what one could call a luxuriant cross between crystal and gold. Delicate, droplet shaped and with gold thread on its neck, it’s a physical manifestation of the fragrance’s exceptional raw materials. J’adore Édition Prestige is available in 30ml, with price on request.

3. Penhaligon’s fragrances by the Nina Frydlender Creazioni
And if you didn’t already love Penhaligon’s Artemisia, Blenheim Bouquet, Endymion, Lily of the Valley, Malabah and Sartorial scents, then this should give you reason enough. Inspired by the iconic fragrances, artist Nina Frydlender Creazioni sought to draw the name of each without listing the bottle. Result? Delightful little vials, resembling pop art figurines that beg to be bought and stowed away for posterity. Each 500ml bottle has been priced at 850 Euro ($1,060).

2. La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain
If you’d like to see a magnificent piece with metal embroidery, we’d tell you, why just see it if you can own it? And the fruity-Patchouli potion within it! With La Petite Robe Noire’s charismatic inverted heart top, Baccarat combines a sleek black crystal structure and Atelier Macon & Lesquoy’s bouquet of cannetille flowers. While the art form of embroidering with tiny metal spiral threads takes over ten years to master, we’d say you shouldn’t wait before getting your hands on one of the fragrance’s 40 numbered editions. The 250ml bottle is priced at 1200 Euro ($1,500).

1. Coque d’Or by Guerlain
And Guerlain’s back, at the top of the list no less, with the new release vintage edition Coque d’Or courtesy Maison Baccarat once again. Their tie this time (pun intended), brings us to a rather luxurious, gold painted and gold and silk embellished collectible. A nod to the archetypal male accessory Russian ballet creator Serge Diaghilev wore at his soirees, the chypre creation containing notes of bergamot, rose and patchouli is perfectly suited to both men and women. With only 29 190ml bottles available worldwide, perfume is priced at over 16.850 Euro ($21,000).
